Santa Barbara County, CA (August 27, 2026) – One person died on Tuesday afternoon after a passenger vehicle struck a semi-truck on Hwy 1 near Lompoc.
The collision happened shortly after 2 p.m. near Jalama Rd, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. The passenger vehicle’s driver was alone and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The semi-truck driver suffered minor injuries. Hwy 1 was closed in both directions as of 3:30 p.m., with motorists advised to use alternate routes. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
