The circumstances surrounding the wreck continue to be examined.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the man who died.
Why Are Rural Intersection Collisions So Severe?
Rural intersections can present unique risks because vehicles may approach at highway speeds while crossing traffic relies on stop signs or other controls. When a driver enters an intersection without yielding, there may be little time for other motorists to avoid a collision.
In these cases, investigators review traffic control devices, vehicle damage, tire marks, roadway conditions, and witness statements to determine how the collision occurred. They may also examine whether seatbelts were used and how the vehicles moved before and after contact. These findings help establish a detailed timeline of the factors that contributed to the roadway collision.
