Iroquois County, IL (July 28, 2026) – One driver was killed, and another was injured after a two-vehicle accident on Monday morning on Interstate 57 northbound in Iroquois County. The accident happened shortly after 5 a.m. near milepost 275 in Buckley.
Illinois State Police said two vehicles were involved, and one driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was taken to an area hospital with injuries, though the extent of those injuries was not released.
Northbound lanes of I-57 were closed for several hours while the roadway was cleared, with traffic diverted near the Buckley exit. All lanes reopened around 8:15 a.m. The investigation into the wreck remains ongoing. We extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of the driver who died.
