San Joaquin County, CA (July 15, 2026) – One person lost their life in an accident early on Wednesday morning on SR-12 near Guard Road in San Joaquin County. The collision was reported at approximately 5:51 a.m.
Initial dispatch information indicated the crash involved a black sedan and a small truck. One of the vehicles caught fire, and flames spread to nearby brush before being contained. Emergency units remained at the roadway while the affected vehicles were cleared and the surrounding fire was addressed.
Dispatch records later confirmed the collision was upgraded to a fatality. One person was taken from the scene before the death was confirmed, although the identity of the deceased has not been released. Tow trucks were requested to remove both the Honda and a Chevrolet S-10 after the roadway reopened. The cause of the wreck is still under investigation as investigators work to determine what led to the collision.
