How DUI-Related Single-Vehicle Accidents Are Investigated
Single-vehicle accidents involving suspected impairment are usually reviewed through several types of evidence. Investigators may examine vehicle damage, roadway markings, witness statements, and available records to understand how the vehicle moved before it left the roadway or came to a stop.
Alcohol-related cases can involve reviews of driving behavior, road conditions, and other factors that may have affected vehicle control. Medical and toxicology testing may also become part of the process when impairment is suspected. Passenger safety is another concern, especially when children are involved. These details help create a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding a serious roadway accident and the factors that may have contributed.
