What Factors Are Commonly Examined After a Head-On Highway Wreck?
Head-on roadway crashes are among the most serious traffic incidents because the combined force of two vehicles traveling toward one another can cause severe damage. After such a wreck, investigators usually review vehicle positions, roadway markings, weather conditions, and any evidence showing how a vehicle entered an opposing lane.
Physical evidence, including tire marks, debris patterns, and vehicle damage, can help establish the sequence of movements before contact occurred. Investigators may also examine visibility, traffic conditions, and potential mechanical issues that could have affected vehicle operation.
In some cases, electronic data stored within newer vehicles can provide additional information about speed, braking, or steering actions in the moments leading up to the collision. These findings help create a clearer picture of how the roadway encounter unfolded and may assist in determining contributing factors.
