Clayton, NC (June 25, 2026) – A woman lost her life, and another person was critically hurt following a head-on collision near Clayton on Wednesday morning. The two-vehicle crash happened on McLemore Rd in Johnston County at about 11:15 a.m.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, one car crossed the center line and entered the opposing lane before striking another vehicle on the driver’s side. Both vehicles were heavily damaged and came to rest along the side of the roadway.
The woman died as a result of the wreck, while the other driver was reported in critical condition. The names of those involved had not been released at the time of publication. Troopers continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
