Manchester, NH (June 25, 2026) – A motorcyclist suffered catastrophic injuries early on Wednesday morning after being ejected from his motorcycle and falling approximately 65 feet down an embankment near Interstate 293 in Manchester.
According to Manchester Information, emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 1:28 a.m. on June 24 after reports of an abandoned motorcycle blocking the roadway near the Granite Street off-ramp from Interstate 293 North at mile marker 6.0.
Investigators believe the rider exited I-293 at a high rate of speed before losing control. The motorcycle reportedly traveled along the top of a guardrail for an estimated 75 to 100 feet before the rider was thrown into nearby trees and down a steep embankment, landing near the edge of the river about 65 feet below.
Initial responding firefighters located the damaged motorcycle but could not immediately find the rider. After a search, first responders discovered him hundreds of feet from where the motorcycle came to rest.
Due to the difficult terrain and darkness, a large-scale rescue operation was launched involving multiple fire engines, rescue units, advanced life support personnel, and water rescue teams. Rescue crews deployed boats from the nearby Fisher Cats boat ramp to reach the victim along the river.
Responders provided emergency medical care at the scene, including applying tourniquets to treat severe injuries. The motorcyclist was stabilized, secured to a rescue boat, and transported back to the boat ramp, where advanced life support crews assumed patient care.
The victim was then taken to Elliot Hospital, where a trauma alert was activated for an adult male suffering from an open femur fracture, weak pulse, and multiple traumatic injuries. Emergency crews cleared the scene at approximately 3:30 a.m. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
