Why Head-On Crashes Often Result in Severe Injuries
Head-on crashes are among the most serious types of roadway collisions because both vehicles may be traveling toward each other at the time of contact. The combined force can lead to major vehicle damage and life-threatening injuries, even at moderate speeds.
Investigators often examine lane position, driver movement, and roadway markings after these crashes. Visibility, traffic flow, and possible attempts to avoid contact may also be reviewed to help determine how the vehicles entered each other’s path.
Medical outcomes in head-on roadway collisions can vary widely depending on speed, seat belt use, and the point of contact between the vehicles. In many cases, emergency crews must work quickly to assist occupants and reopen affected traffic lanes safely.
