Chicago, IL (July 28, 2026) – A woman was killed, and a man was injured after two people were struck in separate hit-and-run crashes on Sunday night on Interstate 57 in Chicago. The accident happened around 8:51 p.m. in the northbound lanes near Halsted St.
Illinois State Police said a female occupant got out of an SUV that had stopped on the shoulder before she was struck by a passing vehicle. The driver of that vehicle left the area, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A male occupant of the SUV was struck by another vehicle after getting out to help the woman. He was taken to a hospital with injuries. The investigation into the collision remains ongoing as investigators search for additional details. We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the woman who lost her life.
