Granby, CT (July 28, 2026) – One motorcyclist died after a head-on collision on Sunday, July 26, at Granville Road and Peck Orchard Road. The crash was reported around 5:45 p.m.
Emergency units found the rider with severe bleeding and began lifesaving measures. A medical helicopter landed near 160 Granville Road before taking the patient to Hartford Hospital.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The car’s driver was not injured, and no identities were included in the initial report.
Granville Road remained closed while investigators examined the wreck.

Why Can Head-on Motorcycle Crashes Be Especially Severe?
Head-on crashes can produce intense force because the vehicles approach from opposite directions. A motorcycle rider has little surrounding protection and may absorb much of that force directly.
The front of a motorcycle offers no enclosed frame, airbags, or large structure to shield the rider. Contact may cause severe harm to the head, chest, arms, or legs before the person reaches the pavement.
Travel speed, contact angle, and vehicle size can influence the outcome. Medical teams may also face internal bleeding or trauma that is difficult to identify immediately. Rapid treatment is often needed because a rider’s health can decline quickly after a major frontal strike.
