North Hills, CA (July 28, 2026) – Two people suffered serious injuries after they were struck by a vehicle during a street takeover event on Sunday evening, July 26, in the North Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, paramedics responded around 5:55 p.m. to the intersection of Plummer Street and Haskell Avenue. Authorities said a black sedan struck two pedestrians before fleeing the scene.

One victim was knocked unconscious in the collision, while the other suffered a severely broken leg. Both were transported to area hospitals for treatment, and police said one of the victims sustained severe injuries.

The Los Angeles Police Department said the driver fled immediately after the crash and remains outstanding. No additional information about the suspect or vehicle has been released.

The hit-and-run crash remains under investigation. We are thinking of the injured victims and wish them both a full and speedy recovery.

Why Street Takeover Incidents Can Create Serious Safety Risks

Street takeover events often attract large crowds of spectators gathered close to moving vehicles, creating hazardous conditions for everyone in the area. High speeds, reckless driving maneuvers, and limited escape routes can increase the likelihood of serious injuries when a vehicle loses control or intentionally drives through a crowd.

In hit-and-run cases associated with these events, investigators typically review surveillance footage, cellphone videos, social media posts, witness statements, and physical evidence from the scene to identify the driver and reconstruct the incident. Publicly shared videos can provide valuable investigative leads.

Law enforcement agencies continue to discourage participation in illegal street takeovers because of the significant risks they pose to spectators, motorists, nearby residents, and emergency responders.
