Riverside, CA (July 28, 2026) – A hospital employee was killed after being struck by a fleeing driver on Sunday morning, July 26, near Kaiser Permanente Riverside Medical Center in Riverside.
According to the Riverside Police Department, the crash occurred around 11:40 a.m. near the medical center. Officers were in a nearby parking lot investigating a vehicle code violation when they approached a parked vehicle. Police said the driver sped away as officers walked toward the car.
Authorities said that within seconds, as officers were getting into their patrol vehicle to begin pursuing the suspect, the fleeing driver struck a pedestrian believed to have been walking on a nearby sidewalk. The victim, later identified as an employee of Kaiser Permanente Riverside Medical Center, was pronounced dead.
Police have not released a description of the suspect or the vehicle involved. The driver remains at large, and the search is ongoing as investigators continue to gather evidence.
