Old Lyme, CT (July 28, 2026) – Two people were taken to hospitals after a multi-vehicle collision Sunday, July 26, on northbound Interstate 95. The accident was reported around 1:45 p.m. between exits 70 and 71.
Emergency units initially closed the left lane while assessing those involved. The Exit 71 off-ramp was also blocked, and the entire highway was later shut down.
One patient was taken from the roadway around 4:22 p.m. A second ambulance brought another person to a hospital shortly afterward. Two other people declined medical treatment, while additional occupants were evaluated.
Crews also reported fluids on the pavement, and a tow truck arrived to remove vehicles. Names, injury details, and the number of vehicles were not included in the original post.
The cause of the wreck remains under investigation. We hope everyone hurt makes a speedy recovery.
