Coachella, CA (July 28, 2026) – A major injury crash left one person trapped inside a vehicle on Monday evening, July 27, at the intersection of Avenue 53 and Van Buren Street in Coachella.
According to the California Highway Patrol incident log, the collision was reported shortly after 6:15 p.m. Initial reports indicated a red Toyota and a black Chevrolet Equinox were involved in the crash. CAL FIRE crews were dispatched to the scene to assist with the emergency response.
Authorities reported that one occupant became trapped inside a vehicle, prompting a technical rescue. Tow trucks were requested to remove both damaged vehicles from the intersection.
Later in the evening, CHP upgraded the incident from a standard traffic collision to a major injury crash, indicating that at least one person suffered serious injuries. Officials have not released the identities of those involved or provided additional information regarding their conditions.
