Oceanside, CA (July 28, 2026) – Several people suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle crash on Monday night, July 27, on eastbound State Route 78 just east of El Camino Real in Oceanside.
According to the California Highway Patrol incident log, the collision was reported around 10:01 p.m. Initial reports indicated two vehicles were involved, but responding officers later confirmed a three-vehicle crash involving a black Volvo sedan, a black Mazda SUV, and another vehicle.
The crash blocked multiple lanes, prompting authorities to temporarily stop all eastbound traffic while emergency crews responded. One lane was later reopened before the remaining lanes were cleared. Both primary vehicles came to rest facing westbound after the collision, and flares were placed in the middle lane to warn approaching motorists. Tow trucks were requested to remove the damaged vehicles.
CHP later updated the incident from a property-damage collision to a minor injury crash, indicating that at least one person was hurt. Authorities have not released the number of injured people or the extent of their injuries.
