Marcellus, NY (June 23, 2026) – A serious injury crash was reported at the intersection of U.S. Route 20 and Slate Hill Rd in the town of Marcellus on Sunday, June 21.
A preliminary review found that an 18-year-old driver of a 2024 Subaru was traveling north on Slate Hill Rd and stopped at the intersection before entering U.S. Route 20. The driver then failed to yield to an eastbound 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by a 55-year-old man, causing the collision.
The motorcycle operator and his 55-year-old female passenger were ejected from the motorcycle and taken to Upstate University Hospital. The passenger later died, while the man remained hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The Subaru driver was not hurt.
The people involved were identified as Morgan L. Heise, 18, of Chaumont, New York, and the two motorcycle occupants. The investigation is continuing as more details are reviewed.
