Why Pedestrian Crashes Often Lead to Severe Injuries
Pedestrian crashes frequently result in serious harm because people have little protection against the force of a moving vehicle. Even at lower speeds, a person on foot can face life-threatening trauma after being struck. Road design, lighting, weather, and driver visibility can all affect how these collisions happen.
Intersections are common places for pedestrian-related roadway accidents, especially during overnight hours when visibility is reduced. Traffic flow, crossing patterns, and driver reaction time may also affect the outcome. In some cases, investigators review nearby surveillance footage, roadway markings, and vehicle damage to help determine what occurred. Medical findings can also provide more detail about the severity of harm caused during the collision.
