Richardson, TX (September 1, 2026) – A 36-year-old man died after a three-vehicle collision on Sunday night on southbound US 75 near Belt Line Rd. The wreck was reported around 8:55 p.m. on August 30.
Investigators said a Ford pickup with a blown tire was traveling slowly in the southbound lanes when an Infiniti sedan struck it from behind. Both drivers stopped in the left lane and exited their vehicles before a Volkswagen struck the Infiniti driver.
The Infiniti driver, identified as 36-year-old Michael Barrera, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Volkswagen then struck the Ford pickup and its driver, who was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Volkswagen driver and Infiniti passenger were not hurt. The highway remained closed for several hours following the accident, while emergency units worked at the site. The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under review as investigators continue examining what led to the fatal sequence of impacts.
