New Smyrna Beach, FL (July 14, 2026) – A fatal crash on Interstate 95 near State Road 44 left an 85-year-old Daytona Beach woman dead and a 42-year-old Edgewater man injured early on Monday morning.
The wreck happened around 1:30 a.m. on the northbound I-95 near mile marker 248. A Kia Soul and a Lincoln Continental were traveling north when the Lincoln struck the rear of the Kia, according to the Florida Highway Patrol report.
The Kia left the roadway and entered the median, while the Lincoln traveled off the road onto the outside shoulder. The Kia driver died at the scene, and the Lincoln driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
