Brownsville, TX (July 23, 2026) – A fatal collision on FM 511 south of SH-48 in Cameron County left a woman dead on Wednesday morning.
The collision happened at approximately 8:52 a.m. when a 2020 red Kenworth truck towing a 2016 tanker trailer was traveling north on FM 511. A 2007 silver Toyota Scion was traveling south in the wrong direction and struck the Kenworth head-on, according to a preliminary review.
The Toyota driver was taken to Harlingen Valley Baptist and remained stable. The female passenger inside the Toyota died from her injuries at the scene. The identities of those involved were not released.
Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances that led to the wreck. Our condolences go out to the loved ones of the woman who died.
