Crown Point, NY (July 2, 2026) – One person died, and four others were injured on Tuesday evening, June 30, after a two-car crash at Route 9N and Bridge Road in Crown Point.
The collision happened just before 6:00 p.m. The New York State Police said 69-year-old Larry Smith of Baltimore, Maryland, was driving west on Bridge Road when his vehicle collided with a northbound SUV on Route 9N.
Smith was pronounced dead at the site. His passenger, 62-year-old Ruth Smith, was taken to UVM Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and remained in critical condition.
The SUV driver, a Port Henry man, and his two passengers were taken to Moses-Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening. The cause of the Crown Point crash remains under investigation as officials work to confirm the full sequence.
