Forest View, IL (June 19, 2026) – One person died early on Friday morning, June 19, after a serious crash near West 47th Street and South Central Avenue in Forest View.

Police said officers were called just after 1:00 a.m. and found two damaged vehicles. A person was also found nearby on the ground.

An off-duty emergency medical responder stopped to help provide aid. The person was taken to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.

The person’s name had not been released in the initial report. Police did not immediately say what led to the collision.

Traffic was blocked for several hours while the roadway was reviewed. Southbound Central Avenue was closed from Pershing Road to 47th Street, while northbound Central Avenue was blocked from 47th Street to Interstate 55.

The Forest View crash remains under investigation. Our condolences go to the person’s family and loved ones.

Early-Morning Crashes Can Lead to Major Road Closures

Early-morning crashes can be difficult for drivers because visibility is often lower and traffic patterns can change quickly. Darkness, headlights, and reduced road activity can make hazards harder to notice until vehicles are close.

When a serious crash happens near a major road or ramp, closures may spread beyond the immediate intersection. Drivers may be forced to slow, turn around, or use alternate routes while crews document damage and clear the road.

Crashes involving multiple damaged vehicles often require careful review. Investigators may look at lane position, vehicle paths, lighting, road surface, and debris patterns to understand what happened. These checks can take time, especially when a person has died, and traffic must be kept away from the blocked lanes.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
