What Do Investigators Review After a Serious Highway Collision?
After a serious highway crash, early reviews focus on the sequence of vehicle movements, roadway conditions, and driver actions leading up to the impact. Investigators examine physical marks on the pavement, vehicle damage patterns, and any available traffic camera footage. These elements can help reconstruct how the vehicles interacted in the moments before the crash occurred.
Medical evaluations also contribute to understanding how occupants were affected, especially when injuries are reported. Information from hospital assessments may later clarify the extent of harm. Weather conditions, lighting, and traffic flow are also commonly reviewed. Even small details, such as tire marks or debris spread, can provide useful insight into how the crash developed.
