Raleigh, NC (July 25, 2026) – One person died, and several others were hurt in a multi-vehicle crash on Wake Forest Rd. in front of Duke Health Raleigh on Thursday afternoon.
Investigators said the driver of a black Subaru Forester was traveling northbound around 1:45 p.m. when he lost control of the SUV and struck multiple vehicles. The initial collision forced a blue Honda CR-V into oncoming traffic, where it hit a red Nissan Altima head-on before also striking a white Dodge Journey. The Subaru then hit a gray Fiat 500, sideswiped a blue Hyundai Sonata, and came to a stop.
The Subaru driver was taken to WakeMed Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Several other drivers were taken to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries. Multiple vehicles were towed from the roadway after the wreck.
The names of those involved have not been released. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
