Cobb Co., GA (September 5, 2026) – A 44-year-old woman died, and two others were seriously injured in a collision near Lake Acworth Drive and Cottage Oaks Drive shortly after 9 p.m. on Thursday, September 3.
Barbara Sotelo of Acworth was driving with a minor passenger when a car driven by a 47-year-old Woodstock man crossed into oncoming traffic and struck her vehicle. Investigators said the man may have experienced a medical event before crossing the roadway.
Sotelo lost her life, while her passenger had serious medical needs. The Woodstock driver was also taken by ambulance to a hospital with significant injuries. The young passenger was not publicly identified, and the source did not state whether Sotelo and the passenger were related.
