Chesapeake, VA (September 5, 2026) – One man died, and two other occupants were injured after a single-vehicle crash near Cavalier Boulevard and Holland Boulevard on Thursday, September 3.
Responders found an overturned vehicle carrying three occupants. One man was partially trapped beneath it and was unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second occupant was taken to a local hospital for treatment, though the severity of that person’s medical needs was not specified. The third occupant also went to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The two surviving occupants had not been publicly identified. The collision remains under investigation.

Why Can Vehicle Rollovers Cause Severe Occupant Harm?
A rollover can expose occupants to forces from several directions as a vehicle turns onto its side or roof. The body may move sharply inside the cabin, increasing the risk of head, neck, chest, and limb trauma.
Seat belts help keep occupants within the passenger compartment and reduce the chance of ejection. Roof strength, vehicle speed, seating position, and the number of rotations can also influence how severe the resulting harm becomes.
Rollovers can create additional dangers when doors become blocked, or part of the vehicle rests against the ground. Occupants may also become trapped beneath or inside the vehicle, making access more difficult. Loose objects in the cabin can move during rotation and add further risk. The direction of force and final resting position can also affect the types of trauma occupants have.
