Merced County, CA (August 10, 2026) — One passenger was killed, and two other people were injured when a Jeep overturned on Little Panoche Road in Merced County on Saturday, August 8.
The crash happened around 6 a.m., about three miles from the Mercey Hot Springs resort, according to the California Highway Patrol. Officials said the Jeep was attempting to travel uphill when it began rolling backward and eventually overturned.
All three occupants were thrown from the Jeep. One passenger died from their injuries. The other passenger, who was also injured, went down the hill to call 911, while the driver was airlifted to a hospital with major injuries.
The person who died had not been publicly identified.
