Fort Walton Beach, FL (June 5, 2026) – A 60-year-old man died and two others, including a child, were seriously injured in a head-on crash on State Road 285 in Okaloosa County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 3:43 p.m. on June 3 at mile marker 10 on SR 285. Two SUVs were involved in the collision.
Investigators said a gray Chevy Trax, driven by a 60-year-old Fort Walton Beach man, was traveling northbound when it crossed the center line. The vehicle then collided head-on with a southbound gray Land Rover LR4 driven by a 40-year-old Fort Walton Beach man.
The driver of the Chevy Trax was pronounced dead as a result of the crash. The driver of the Land Rover and an 11-year-old passenger in the vehicle both suffered serious injuries.
No identities have been released by authorities. The circumstances leading to the vehicle crossing into oncoming traffic have not been confirmed. Officials continue to investigate the collision and are working to determine what caused the Trax to leave its lane.
