Pedestrian Collisions at Night Can Require Urgent Care
Pedestrian crashes at night can be especially dangerous because visibility is often limited. Drivers may have less time to notice someone in the road when darkness, headlights, shadows, and nearby traffic affect the view ahead.
Residential roads can also create safety challenges after dark. People may be walking near apartment entrances, driveways, parked vehicles, or intersections while drivers are watching for turns and other cars. A person on foot has no protection during contact with a vehicle, so injuries can become serious quickly.
When a medical helicopter is called after a crash, it often means the injuries need urgent evaluation. Reviews after these accidents may focus on lighting, lane position, driver movement, road design, and where the pedestrian was before being hit.
