Myrtle Beach, SC (August 10, 2026) – One person was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle wreck near Highway 17 Bypass and Harbour Towne Drive on Sunday morning, August 9, according to Horry County Fire Rescue. One vehicle overturned in the crash, which crews were dispatched to around 10:18 a.m.
Northbound lanes of the bypass were blocked while crews worked. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating with help from the Myrtle Beach Police Department. Drivers were urged to avoid the area.

Why Do Rollovers on Bypass Roads Block Multiple Lanes?
A vehicle that overturns doesn’t stay confined to a single lane, since the momentum carrying it into a roll can send it drifting across adjacent lanes before coming to rest. This is part of why a rollover frequently requires a wider closure than a standard two-car crash.
