Farley, IA (August 10, 2026) – Two people died, and six others were seriously injured after a crash involving a car and a UTV at East Worthington Road and Comer Road on Saturday night, August 8, according to the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office. Emergency crews were called around 9:21 p.m.
One person was found dead at the scene. Six others were taken to the hospital with serious to life-threatening injuries; one of them later died. Names are being withheld pending family notification and are expected to be released after 10 p.m. Sunday.
Multiple agencies, including the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, Peosta Police Department, Cascade EMS, Dyersville Bi-County Ambulance, Farley Fire and EMS, Epworth Fire and EMS, and Worthington Fire Department, responded.

Why Do Crashes Involving a UTV and a Car End with Severe Injuries?
UTVs are built for off-road use and typically lack the protective structure, airbags, and crumple zones found in a standard passenger car. This leaves occupants far more exposed if they’re involved in a crash with a larger, heavier vehicle.
