Blackwood, NJ (August 10, 2026) – Two motorcycle riders suffered critical but stable injuries on Saturday morning after the motorcycle struck a sedan while turning from Garden Avenue onto the Black Horse Pike, according to the Gloucester Township Police Department. Officers were dispatched around 10:37 a.m. Both riders were found lying in the roadway after being thrown from the motorcycle.
Paramedics treated both at the scene before taking them by ambulance to Cooper University Hospital’s Trauma Center in Camden. The sedan’s driver was not hurt and stayed at the scene to speak with investigators.
The roadway was closed for about three hours while the department’s Serious Crash Investigation Team documented the scene. Speed and distracted driving do not currently appear to be factors. Names are being withheld pending family notification.

Starting a turn from a full stop requires quickly building enough speed to clear an intersection safely, and a motorcycle’s narrower profile can make it harder for an oncoming driver to judge its distance and closing speed. Because a motorcycle has no surrounding frame, occupants are far more likely to be thrown clear on impact than to be protected within the vehicle. This ejection risk is part of why motorcycle crashes at intersections result in more severe injuries than a comparable crash between two cars.
Investigators typically examine the timing of each vehicle’s approach and the turning vehicle’s line of sight to understand how a crash like this occurred. This kind of review helps establish whether visibility or a simple misjudgment played the larger role.
