Mount Vernon, MO (August 10, 2026) – A 21-year-old pedestrian was killed on Saturday night, August 8, after being struck by a 2017 Nissan NV3500 on I-44 in Mount Vernon.
The pedestrian, a Mount Vernon man, was in the roadway when the eastbound Nissan hit him at about 9:17 p.m. The 49-year-old driver from Greenwood, Indiana, was not reported hurt.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the location at 9:28 p.m. The Nissan sustained total damage and was removed from the roadway by a towing company. The victim’s next of kin was notified. The investigation into the fatal accident remains underway, with additional details expected as the review continues.
