How Red-Light Violations Can Lead to Serious Intersection Crashes
Intersections are among the most common places for traffic collisions because vehicles from multiple directions cross paths within a limited space. When a driver enters an intersection after a traffic signal has turned red, other motorists may have little time to react, increasing the likelihood of a broadside or angle-type crash.
These types of roadway incidents can sometimes cause vehicles to roll over, particularly when the point of contact affects a vehicle’s balance or direction of travel. Factors such as speed, vehicle size, road design, and traffic volume may influence the severity of the outcome.
After a major intersection crash, investigators often review traffic signal timing, witness accounts, roadway evidence, and vehicle damage patterns. This information can help establish how the sequence of actions unfolded and provide a clearer picture of what occurred before the vehicles came into contact.
