Why Pedestrian Accidents Involving Children Can Be Serious
Pedestrian accidents involving children can lead to serious injuries because young people have little protection when hit by a vehicle. Even on residential streets, a child may suffer head, chest, back, arm, or leg injuries after contact with a car or the roadway.
Neighborhood crashes can also be difficult to review because children, parked vehicles, driveways, and limited visibility may all be factors. Emergency teams may check for fractures, internal trauma, head injuries, and breathing concerns. Investigators may review vehicle position, lighting, road layout, witness statements, and any nearby video to understand how the crash happened.
