Tulia, TX (August 5, 2026) – One person was hurt after a house explosion early on Tuesday morning at a multi-unit residence in Tulia, prompting an investigation into what caused the blast.
The explosion occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. at 508 S. Austin Ave. According to fire officials, the building appeared to contain four residential units, and five people were inside when the explosion occurred.
One person was taken to a burn unit in Lubbock for treatment. No additional information about the person’s injuries or current medical status was immediately available. First National Bank of Tulia identified Derek Fudge as one of the people affected, stating that he had recently moved into the residence and lost all of his belongings in the explosion. The State Fire Marshal’s Office continues to investigate the cause of the explosion.
