Kilgore, TX (August 22, 2026) – One person suffered minor burn injuries on Thursday, August 20, after a mobile home caught fire in Rusk County.
The fire was reported around 7:20 p.m. in the 11000 block of County Road 167D. Emergency units found the mobile home and a storage building burning when they arrived.
The residents had safely left the home before emergency units arrived. One resident reported minor burn injuries and received assistance.
Additional fire departments provided mutual aid during the operation. The American Red Cross Greater North Texas was also notified to assist the people affected by the fire. The circumstances surrounding the fire remain under review.

Mobile homes can become dangerous quickly during a fire because many are constructed with lightweight materials and have limited interior space. Smoke can also spread rapidly, making it difficult to see or move safely through the home.
