What Do Investigators Review After Moped Crashes?
Crashes involving mopeds and other small motorized vehicles require investigators to carefully evaluate the movements of both the rider and the other vehicle. They may review witness statements, roadway markings, traffic controls, and any available surveillance footage to better understand how the collision occurred.
The location of vehicle damage, debris, and final resting positions can also help reconstruct the sequence of events. Visibility, traffic flow, and roadway conditions are additional factors that may be considered during the investigation.
Because mopeds’ riders have less physical protection than occupants of passenger vehicles, even relatively low-speed collisions can result in injuries. A thorough investigation helps establish the circumstances surrounding the crash and provides a clearer understanding of the factors involved.
