What Can Cause a Vehicle to Roll Over?
Rollover accidents can happen when a vehicle suddenly changes direction, leaves the roadway, or encounters an obstacle. Speed, sharp turns, road conditions, and a vehicle’s design can all affect rollover risk.
Taller vehicles with a higher center of gravity may be more likely to tip during certain maneuvers. A tire failure or loss of control can also contribute to a rollover.
Seat belts are especially important in these accidents because occupants can be thrown from their seats when a vehicle overturns. Keeping speeds appropriate for road conditions and maintaining control through curves can help reduce the risk of a rollover.
