Salem, OR (September 4, 2026) – A three-vehicle T-bone collision with reported injuries blocked Sunnyside Road Southeast at Boone Road Southeast on Wednesday, September 2. A community alert posted at about 1:47 p.m. said fluids were also leaking onto the roadway.
Emergency units were present while the intersection remained obstructed. The post also noted that rain had made the roads slick, although it did not state that weather caused the accident.
Cleanup personnel were expected to address the spilled fluids before the roadway could be fully cleared. The circumstances leading to the crash remain under review.

Wet Intersections Can Increase Side-Impact Injury Risks
Rain can reduce tire grip and increase the distance vehicles need to stop. At intersections, drivers may also have less time to react when another vehicle enters or crosses their path, especially when pavement is slick.
