What Information Is Reviewed After an Intersection Crash?
Intersections are common locations for traffic collisions because they require drivers to monitor multiple directions of travel while following traffic control devices and yielding when necessary. Even a brief lapse in attention or a misunderstanding of another driver’s movements can result in a serious crash.
Following an injury collision, investigators examine roadway markings, vehicle damage, skid marks, traffic signs or signals, and witness statements. If surveillance or dashboard camera footage is available, it may also help establish the sequence of events.
Other factors, including weather, visibility, and traffic conditions at the time of the crash, may also be reviewed. The information gathered during the investigation helps create a more complete understanding of how the collision occurred.
