Waldorf, MD (August 3, 2026) – Two people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Saturday, August 1, at the intersection of Berry Rd and Greenwood Dr in Waldorf.
Emergency units were dispatched to the intersection at approximately 10:40 p.m. after reports that one vehicle had gone into a ditch while another traveled into a wooded area. One vehicle was found resting on its side near the intersection, and the second was discovered upside down in the woods. A traffic signal control box was knocked down during the collision, leaving the intersection without working traffic lights.
Initial reports indicated occupants were trapped in both vehicles. One person was freed by emergency crews, while another exited before a second rescue operation was completed. One patient suffered hip injuries and a reduced level of consciousness, while the other sustained fractures to the pelvis and femur. Due to the severity of the injuries, two Maryland State Police Aviation Command helicopters transported the patients to separate trauma centers for treatment. The Maryland State Highway Administration was notified to address the damaged traffic signal and clear debris from the intersection. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
