What Information Is Typically Collected After a Two-Vehicle Crash?
Following a two-vehicle crash, investigators generally document the positions of the vehicles, roadway conditions, and any visible damage. They may also review witness statements, photographs, traffic signals, and other evidence that could help establish how the collision occurred.
Medical information can also provide useful context when injuries are reported. Early reports often include only basic details, while additional findings may emerge after vehicles are inspected and statements are reviewed. Factors such as traffic flow, visibility, weather conditions, and driver actions are commonly examined during the fact-gathering process. In urban areas with busy intersections, investigators may also review nearby surveillance footage or traffic camera footage when available. These details can help create a clearer picture of the sequence of events leading up to the crash.
