Palm Springs, CA (September 9, 2026) – One person was injured in a traffic collision Monday morning, September 7, on State Route 111 near Overture Drive.

The California Highway Patrol listed the collision at approximately 8:41 a.m. on September 7. It occurred on northbound SR-111 at Overture Drive in Palm Springs.

Two vehicles were involved. A Ford Explorer and a white Mitsubishi SUV were reported at the scene, blocking part of the roadway.

One person was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. A container containing gasoline was also found in the roadway, with fuel reported spilled across part of SR-111.

Both vehicles were later towed. Additional details about what led to the accident were not immediately available.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under review.

We hope the injured person makes a full recovery quickly.

What Should Drivers Do After a Minor Highway Collision?

Drivers involved in a minor highway accident should first move to a safe position if they can move their vehicles without creating additional danger. Turning on hazard lights can help alert approaching traffic. If anyone is hurt, request medical assistance promptly. Drivers should exchange required information and document vehicle damage when it is safe to do so.

Photos of the roadway, vehicles, traffic signs, and visible damage may help preserve useful information. If fuel or another hazardous substance has spilled onto the roadway, motorists should avoid the affected area and allow emergency personnel to address the hazard.

Drivers should also remain alert for secondary crashes because stopped vehicles and roadway debris can create additional risks. Even when injuries initially appear minor, symptoms may develop later, so medical evaluation can be appropriate after a traffic accident.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
