Newton, KS (August 27, 2026) – One person was injured on Tuesday evening, August 25, after a house explosion in a rural area of Newton.
Crews responded around 8 p.m. to the explosion in the 3000 block of Southeast 48th Street. Newton Fire/EMS said the injured person was found with burn injuries and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The explosion caused moderate damage to the home. The cause of the explosion remained under investigation.
Newton Fire/EMS received assistance from fire departments in Walton, Whitewater, Sedgwick, and Halstead, as well as the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office.
