Highlands Ranch, CO (June 2, 2026) – One person died, and two others were injured on Monday morning following a hit-and-run crash involving a pickup truck in Highlands Ranch, Douglas County.

The crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Willowbridge Way and East Wildcat Reserve Parkway. According to a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, a Ford F-150 was traveling east on Wildcat Reserve Parkway when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck three people who were standing on a sidewalk.

The truck left the scene after the collision. Responding emergency units found one victim deceased at the location of the crash, while two others were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Their conditions were not immediately released.

A witness reportedly followed the vehicle and provided its location to deputies, leading to the driver’s arrest. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.

What Factors Are Reviewed in Vehicle-Into-Pedestrian Sidewalk Crashes

When a vehicle leaves the roadway and strikes pedestrians on a sidewalk, investigators typically examine driver behavior, speed, and possible mechanical issues that may have contributed to the departure from the road. They also assess roadway design and nearby traffic conditions.

Evidence such as tire tracks, vehicle damage, and impact points can help reconstruct how the vehicle left the roadway. Witness accounts and surveillance footage, when available, are often used to clarify the sequence of events and determine whether impairment, distraction, or evasive action played a role.
