What Factors Are Commonly Reviewed in Emergency Vehicle-Involved Crashes?
Crashes involving emergency vehicles mostly require a detailed review of speed, roadway access points, and whether emergency lights and sirens were active and visible to other drivers. Investigators may also examine whether drivers entering a roadway had a clear line of sight and adequate time to react.
Intersections and private driveways along highways can present added risk when vehicles are merging into fast-moving traffic. In these cases, visibility, timing, and driver awareness are key factors in understanding how the collision occurred.
Information gathered from vehicle data, scene evidence, and witness statements helps reconstruct the sequence of events and determine how similar incidents may be prevented in the future.
