Berkeley County, SC (August 8, 2026) – An 85-year-old St. Stephen man was killed on Thursday morning when a Ford pickup struck him while he was crossing Schurlknight Rd near Backwoods Rd. The wreck happened at approximately 11 a.m.
The deceased was identified as Franklin B. Crawford. The pickup was traveling west on Schurlknight Rd when it struck Crawford, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Crawford was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup driver was not hurt. No additional details about the accident were immediately available. The investigation into the collision remains underway.
