Louisville, KY (July 21, 2026) – One person was killed, and another was injured in a rollover crash on Sunday, July 19, on Interstate 264 near the Bells Lane exit in Louisville. Emergency crews responded to the westbound lanes after an SUV lost control and overturned.
According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, an SUV carrying two occupants was traveling westbound on I-264 when it lost control for reasons that remain under investigation. The SUV struck a passenger vehicle before veering into a concrete median and overturning.
The suspected driver of the SUV was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin. A passenger in the SUV sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to UofL Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the passenger vehicle was not injured in the collision. The crash remains under investigation as detectives work to determine what caused the SUV to lose control.
